I started working overseas in 2020. Due to my own limitations, I was never able to dedicate consistent time to seriously learning the local language. As a result, I found myself completely unable to understand my foreign colleagues during meetings, which caused me great distress.
In 2022, I was amazed by ChatGPT's translation capabilities. After experiencing excellent projects like whisper.cpp, I was inspired to build upon these technologies to address my own language challenges. Unfortunately, despite spending some time researching, I wasn't able to create a complete tool.
In 2024, my mind started wandering again. Unlike before, this time I pushed myself to develop a desktop application for real-time audio translation. This tool has greatly helped me overcome the language barriers I face in work meeting environments.
